I haven’t been updating much about our Muddy Fox Farm search because, well, honestly it’s just plain discouraging. Hey, I know there are much, much larger/more important issues going on in the world. I totally get that. But still, it’s still sort of discouraging. We’ve been looking for almost two years now.
We search several different ‘home’ databases daily, we tour homes and we ask around. This whole process has been eye opening experience and certainly an education! We’ve found several places that almost work, but are just not quite right. This home below was fabulous! It needed some updating/changes, but our ultimate reason for not bidding on it was the land. It was in a beautiful spot in the woods – private and wonderful. However, not having any open, grassy land would make it difficult for gardening, flowers, and animals.
This whole process has forced us to think about what do we really want/need? We’re not looking for the perfect bigger/better/nicer mansion, but we are looking for something that will last, has nice land, and something that we will be happy in for a very long time.
We’ve made the typical ‘must have/would like’ list, but I think it’s time to refine and update it a little.
Here is our previous list (as of February 14, 2016):
I haven’t added the new list to my Bullet Journal, but I’m planning to do that soon. For now, here is our updated list (putting it in print makes it real, right?!)
at least 5 acres, preferably 10 (for Act 319)
low cost, low taxes
character (no cookie cutter)
at least 3 bedrooms
at least 3 car garage and/or barn (cars, motorcycles, working on ‘stuff’ & other general equipment)
lots of natural light
fire place (preferably gas)
room for gym equipment
open space (for animals & motorcycles) and some woods
home built away from the road
located in Bucks County
fencing already up for animals
large back porch
a not-scary basement
I realize that we’re searching for something pretty specific…and maybe something sort of elusive, especially in Bucks County…but we’re hoping this will be our forever-home. That makes it OK to be picky right?
I think our home search is over until spring. But that gives me time to finish all of the home projects around here, which is a great thing!
Thanks for sticking around! 🙂
