It’s hard to say exactly when this dream, the Muddy Fox Farm, of ours started…
Brent and I know what it’s like to be that family … husband has a highly demanding, super stressful job, I own a business and work as an Elementary PE teacher, we have three kids who were on soccer teams, travel teams, and eventually held their own jobs while going to high school. Brent and I consciously enjoyed every minute of every year…but sometimes those years, months and days were blurry. While we weren’t the type to “keep up with the Jones’s”, we sure did our part to keep the consumerism ball rolling.
Then I stumbled on the concept of simplicity and minimalism.
Joshua Becker’s blog, Becoming Minimalist, really made me think. I began researching the whole simplistic/minimalistic lifestyle…we were both hooked. Knowing that we want to have less stuff and enjoy life more, we started to focus on what we really wanted out of life.
What do we want to do with our lives? What do we want our lives to look like? What does our dream life look like? And…how do we make that happen?
I love this quote:
if your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough
and the Muddy Fox Farm dream was born
The complicating part is that we currently live in a neighborhood with less than .25 acres of grass. I can see into my neighbor’s bathroom from my bed. Not exactly our dream.
So…until we pack our bags, I want to document our journey. I want to remember our struggles, joys, discouragements, and ultimately, our success in searching for and finding our little farm. Hopefully our journey (and this blog) will encourage someone else (maybe you?) who has made the commitment to live a simpler, more self-sustaining, less complicated life.
What’s your dream? Is it scary? If not…maybe it’s not big enough. 🙂
Thanks for following along – let me know where you are in your journey!
